- CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE
WEEK
- Serge Gainsbourg "Histoire de Melody Nelson" 1971 (France)
- Gainsbourg
often seems more like a professional provacateur than a musician: this,
his most celebrated record, is a concept album about Serge having a
sexual affair with an underage girl, who then dies in a plane crash at
the end of the story! But if you don't understand French that's hardly
an issue -- musically, this is a fantastic piece of work, with a unique
sound that might be described as "psychedelic funk"
-- Francais style!
