The Grateful Dead "Live / Dead" 1969 (USA)
The Grateful Dead always had a reputation as an amazing live band, but their first three studio albums didn't seem to capture the alchemical groove of their concert experience.  Hence for their next album, they did the obvious and released a double-live set featuring side long medleys of the band spontaneously re-arranging their own tunes.   The album commences with a whole side devoted to their psychedelic classic "Dark Star" (which had first been released as a two minute long single, believe it or not!), followed by "St. Stephen" from their most recent studio album which leads into an odd meter jam called "The Eleven";  then a side and a half of blues numbers featuring Pigpen, and finally concluding with the aptly named "Feedback" and a brief a capella farewell.  As the saying goes, if you can remember this show, then you weren't there!
