It's Hallowe'en, so this year may I present the sca-a-a-riest band ever for induction into the CAOTW Hall o' Fame!  Slayer was one of the titans of the American heavy metal resurgence of the 1980's, and probably the most important satanic thrash metal band of all time.  Their first four albums are all classics, but for some reason their second Hell Awaits feels the most "halloweeny" to me.  It's all about swords & sorcery & Satan & serial killers just like their debut, only with much more impressive musical arrangements and muscular production.  Their next album Reign In Blood (1986) might be the best metal album of all time, EVER -- but it's just too "serious" for the festive holiday mood.
