"Little Baby Buntin'" by Killdozer (1987)
CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE WEEK
Killdozer  "Little Baby Buntin'"  1987 (USA)
Killdozer is undoubtedly the greatest rock band ever to come out of Madison, Wisconsin.   Their sludgy brand of "punk rock" combined with ludicrously grunted sleazy agrarian Marxoid lyrics was quintessentially Midwestern, and they soon found a home at Chicago's legendary indie label Touch & Go.  Along with other T&G acts like Butthole Surfers, Big Black, Scratch Acid and The Jesus Lizard, Killdozer helped to define the so-called "pigfucker" movement which flourished briefly in the 1980's.  A few years later out in Seattle a similar mix of ironic dumbness, working class imagery and heavy riffing exploded in the so-called "grunge rock" movement.  Killdozer reunited with a new guitarist around 1993 and rode that gravy train for a few more years, before splitting for good in 1997.  However, the original lineup has done several well-received reunion gigs since 2006, and have a  performance scheduled this weekend in Madison (local gigs usually include an appearance by 1990's "replacement guitarist" Paul Zagoras for the encore.)
Here's the original Gerald-Hobson-Hobson lineup live back in the good ole indie-punk 1980's playing "Good Lovin' Gone Bad" (by Bad Company!) and "Hottentot".  And here's the "Mark II" 1990's lineup with Zagoras replacing Bill Hobson on lead guitar:  "Knuckles The Dog (Who Helps People)".  And finally, here's the original trio reunited at the Touch & Go 25th Anniversary festival in 2006.
And for no particular reason, here's a bonus funny clip for you Kraftwerk fans:  Ralf & Florian, The SitCom.
