CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE WEEK
King Crimson  "USA"  1975 (UK)
King Crimson holds a revered position atop the pyramid of progressive rock:  they arguably defined the genre with their 1969 debut album, and were always reknowned for the virtuosity of the ever-revolving cast of musicians surrounding mastermind guitarist Robert Fripp.  My favorite of the group's several eras was the "power trio" lineup of 1973-75, featuring singing bassist John Wetton and Bill Bruford on the drums (how cool was King Crimson?  Bruford quit the prog supergroup Yes at the height of their poularity to play with Fripp instead!)  USA is a live album rushed out to head off bootlegs from their mid-70's US tour.  It wonderfully captures the unique sounds of this legendary band at their best.
