Happy 72nd birthday Robert Zimmerman! It's Bob's turn for the classic album of the week on this year's annual Bob & Miles special. Dylan's sixties work laid the foundations of the singer-songwriter boom of the early seventies, but ironically Bob's career floundered while the likes of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, America, The Eagles, et. al. stole his thunder and turned it into soft rock. But 1974 saw a return of the old fire and bile of his earlier work both in the studio and on the stage, and his career hit its second peak (though by the end of the decade he had found Jesus and hired Neil Diamond's stage choreographer . . . )
