- CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE
WEEK
- Flower Travellin' Band "Satori" 1971 (Japan)
- The
second album credited to "The Flower Travellin' Band" (earlier they had
also recorded as "Yuya Uchida & The Flowers"), this is FTB's finest
moment and arguably the best hard-rock album to come out of Japan
during the classic rock era. Over-the-top vocalist Akira "Joe"
Yamanaka and virtuoso guitarist Hideki Ishima were very much the "Page
& Plant" of the western Pacific rim in their day. But their sound
is not simply a recreation of Western heavy rock, there is most
definitely a strong "Asian" influence in their music as well.
