- Harmonia "Deluxe" 1975 (Germany)
Harmonia is a kosmische German supergroup consisting of both of the guys from Cluster (Moebius
& Rodelius) plus Michael Rother, the guitarist from NEU! (who was
also briefly in Kraftwerk). The group released two albums in the
mid-1970's, the debut Musik Von Harmonia was subsequently followed by what was at the time the final NEU! album and also a masterpiece from Cluster, before the trio reunited to record this week's CAOTW with additional guest Mani Neumeier, the brilliant drummer and leader of Guru Guru.
Basically, the delight of this record is that it features the
atmospheric technopop grooves of Cluster, the kosmik drone guitar of
NEU! and a bit of funk from Mani. There was only one subsequent
Harmonia recording session in 1976 (long presumed lost then released in
the 1990's as Tracks And Traces), in which they added another quite amazing guest: Brian Eno!
Rounding out the discography for completists, there is also an archival
live CD recorded on their 1974 tour and the group did a handful of
reunion shows in Europe in 2007-08. |
